Coming into the 2007 I didn't really have any solid goals other than setting some personal bests and undertaking a few Ultra races. Little did I know that by the end of the season I would have competed at two World Championships and lowered a number of personal bests.
In total for 2007 I undertook the following training hours:
Swimming: 73 hours 59mins (-25% from 2006)
131.72 miles
Cycling: 239 hours 57mins (-18% from 2006)
4616.80 miles
Running: 162 hours 47mins (+17% from 2006)
1320.20 miles
Total: 485 hours 15 mins (-11% from 2006)
6068.72 miles
Overall the totals were down from the Ironman year of 2006 and I had more focus on running due to the couple of Ultras that I did. In terms of racing I had my busiest year to date and took part in 22 races (7 Triathlons, 2 Duathlons, 5 bike races and 8 running races).
From the results perspective, I set personal bests in 7 different events:
Running:
5km - 16mins 55secs
10km - 35mins 45secs
15km - 59mins 28secs (although I did 55mins 16secs at the Duathlon Worlds)
10miles - 1hour 13secs
50km - 5hrs 17mins 26secs
Triathlon
1/2 Ironman (70.3M) - 4hrs 30mins 25secs
Cycling
40km TT - 59mins 40secs
So overall the season was a very positive one, with the highlights being the two World Championships at Clearwater and Richmond
Most the races have had race reports over the year (as well as expert photos taken by resident photographer Sarah) and I hope you have managed to follow the season with me. The 2008 season is already being planned and training has begun in earnest....after all 2008 is Ironman year again, with mucho entrenamiento ('training' for those without the Spanish skills!) required to get under 10 hours!
